Sugar House Park

Did you know that Sugar House Park is considered a “crown jewel” among regional parks in the Salt Lake Valley? Take a quick break from the hassles of life and enjoy the 110.5 acres of beautiful nature with your loved ones.

The map shows various parking spots (stars) and the associated distances to two playgrounds in the park. Add some excitement and increase physical activity by incorporating a frisbee or flying a kite. Enjoy!

  1. I know you are just trying to be helpful, and I appreciate your good intent. I do appreciate the reminder to let my child walk more often. But I don't appreciate seeing an educated individual apply the label: "doesn't give kid enough exercise" just because I have my young kid in a stroller. These places you are recommending people take their kids out of a stroller are some of the most inconvenient and difficult places to do what you are suggesting. For example, Sugarhouse park has highly-graded hills and is often very crowded, and the grass is loaded with duck poop. And most playground playsets are not meant for very small children. These are all high risk factors. I have my kid in a stroller at such places to get myself out and enjoy some exercise myself, and save her exercise for a safer and more controllable environment.
Thank you for your time. Please don't be discouraged at the angry and vitriolic comments some have made. You are just trying to help, and they should recognize that. I encourage you to continue your research on ways to fight childhood obesity, as well as other epidemics. We need your thoughtful contributions.

    Sincerely,
    A parent
